Are you one of those people who, like me, always hated or avoiding reading for fun?
Every year I’d set a goal to read more, but never would. I would occasionally listen to an audio book around the holidays when I was driving for long periods of time, but audio books were never a tool to me.
I heard a podcast one talking about a book, so I gave it a listen and the next thing I knew, I was down the rabbit hole of personal growth and entrepreneurship!
I’m a fan of Audible because it’s easy and I can listen while working, driving, when I’m at the gym or cleaning around the house. I also try to read a physical book before bed each night (even if it’s just for 15 min). Also, for anyone who asks, I always recommend keeping a fictional book (or whatever is fun light reading for you) in your monthly reading or you are likely to burn out from information overload.
Here are a few of my business savvy or entrepreneurial books that I love sharing and have personally listened to more than once or bought a hard copy to reference when needed.
Essentialism by Greg McKeown
Talk about life changing! Essentialism is a practice of living your life in a way that makes you the best version of you. Have you ever felt overwhelmed with obligations and clutter in your day-to-day life? Then this book the perfect read. It’s not about decluttering or only owning essential house hold needs. McKeown breaks down how to streamline your thoughts, actions, and responses to live a life that only consists of those things that are essential to what you want to accomplish and who you want to become! P.S. This book is at the top of my recommended list for reason.
Unfu*k Yourself
If you are looking to really break through some of your self sabotaging sh*t, then Gary John Bishop is exactly who you need to hear from. This audio book is a fun Scottish listen, full of honest truths and bold relaties to help you overcome what’s holding you back. His follow up book Stop Doing That Sh*t is also great and gives you more applicable steps to working through the muck that is keeping you stuck.
Starts With Why by Simon Sinek
I always saw Simon Sinek in Facebook videos and loved everything he had to say. His book on WHY is both statistical and relatable. “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” Simon writes with inspiration and humility. This book helped me re-align with what my “why” is and how I can best serve myself and others through that “why.”
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricksw
New and aspiring entrepreneurs, this book is a must read sooner than later! Hendricks shares some of the mindset behind becoming ready to make the big leap into running your business full time. He teaches you about the psychology behind how we operate and think and helps you find that Zone of Genius that will get you to where you want to be operating.
4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss
This book is a great resource for any entrepreneur. Tim Ferriss not only covers how to escape the 9-5 in step by step phases, but give you email templates, exact conversations and general motivations in order to do so. Not only does this book cover the way to maximize your time and delegation, he also walks you through a large variety of resources for becoming location independent. I listened to this as a what seemed like a forever long audio book. I highly recommend reading the paper copy. Plus all of the links and resources are included for you to highlight revisit.
These are just a few of my go to bossbabe books. I hope you enjoy them and find as much value as I did!
