“I beg you take courage; the brave soul can mend even disaster.”
– Catherine the Great
I have been a proponent for bravery can change your life for a few years.
Let’s start at the beginning shall we?
Bravery, by definition is a courageous behavior or character. But most of us would NEVER describe ourselves as brave. Loyal, out going, adventurous sure, but brave, ha!
In reality, bravery is nothing more than a choice. A choice to choose you. A decision to stand up for what you believe in. A moment that you stop saying yes to the what scares you, and just going for it anyway.
Being brave is simply choosing you; choosing the things you want deep down, and may even be afraid to admit.
For some, this could be going to a networking event or telling someone how you feel. For others, it could be walking away from a damaging relationship or say no for a change. For the adventurous spirits, it could be finally going sky diving or perhaps choosing to stay in one place for more than a month.
Brave means something different to every individual. But it carries a resounding “oh sh*t, wtf am I doing” thought. Am I right?
Step into it:
There are tons and tons of methods out there for stepping into the bravest, boldest version of you. Trust me I’ve done loads of them. But here’s what I can tell you. It’s not easy, and it’s not something you just pick up like a new reading habit. It takes anything from counting down from 3, to regular mindset work if you want to really discover who you are.
The best way I know to become your best self, is to do like Nike says and “just do it.” Start small, or start big, what works for me may not work for you. But, I’ve found regardless of the task or the fear, taking a deep breath helps. Take a big breath in, countdown from 3 as you exhale and GO!
This month is your time!
I shared in one of my previous post, the honest truth of what’s been going on with me. Which brings me to needing to shake things up. I can’t fully describe the vibe I’m in. It’s not stuck, or bored, but I’m definitely feeling out of flow, that’s for sure.
So, it’s a new month, and you know I love a good 30 day theme. I spent September trying new things, I did Fall Photo Challenge in October… November, is all about bravery!
Each day I’m going to do something brave from my list! Can you believe it!?!? I’m a little nervous just taking this personal challenge on. BUT, if you’re feeling stuck in a rut, tired of the same ol’ same in your routine, I encourage you to join me wherever you’re at.
Here is a list with a range of courageous tasks, take your pick and share your journey along the way! I can’t wait to see the freedom and joy that comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone.
If you need some courage and motivation, check out my Brave Inspirations post for quotes and screensavers to help you throughout the month!
